To read more about my appearance as a guest on BBC Radio 4's Midweek with Libby Purves in 2005, alongside rock musician Chris Rea, knitter and historian Anne Sinclair, and playwright Arnold Wesker, please click here. We spoke about the physics and magic show I was due to co-present.

"Dr Sharon Ann Holgate is the coolest physicist in Britain", Libby Purves, on Midweek, BBC Radio 4, October 12 2005.

Between 1998 and 2000 I made 25 appearances on Bill Buckley’s afternoon show on BBC Southern Counties Radio. You can listen to some snippets from my 1998 science slots with Bill (pictured with me here). During my time on the show, we talked about everything from science in the kitchen to solar storms, and from photocopiers to the psychology of pants!

In December 2000, I got into the Xmas spirit discussing the science of Christmas song lyrics with presenters Kirsten O’Brien and Stephen Merchant as a studio guest on an Xmas special of The Edge on the BBC World Service. (Please visit my Presenting on Radio page for more information about my E=MC Shaz mini-series, and other presenting for The Edge.)

I had great fun talking about the science and history of toilet paper with Chris Evans in 2007 on his BBC Radio 2 Drivetime show! This led to a further guest appearance on the same topic, this time on the Saturday Breakfast Show with Malcolm Boyden on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.

I was interviewed about what had inspired me to become a scientist for an internal BBC Learning Strategy Launch film directed by Ben McPherson in 2010.

In 2003, I appeared on a Boffins Special of the Weakest Link presented by Anne Robinson on BBC 2. I made it halfway through the rounds before having to do the ‘walk of shame’!

British Satellite News featured the talk with audience participation based on The Way Science Works that I gave in 2003 at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, where I was a patient as a child. Please click here to see the footage which was supplied to broadcasters worldwide. (The first interview is with the head of the GOSH school.)

In November 2010 I was the guest for the Pulse Project’s Pulse Podcast Episode 25. Following this link allows you to download the episode, which revolved around a news story about a real-life cloaking device.
